Purple Tuesday – 3rd November 2020

The Dolphin Shopping Centre is proud to join retailers across the nation in marking Purple Tuesday, the UK’s third accessible shopping day.

Purple Tuesday is a campaign to promote awareness about disabled customers, highlight the difficulties existing disabled shoppers face and measures that can be put in place to overcome them.

The Dolphin Centre currently provides the following services for shoppers:

  • Our staff are Dementia Friends trained
  • Customer Service Guest host is available on the mall areas to offer additional assistance should shoppers require it.
  • Changing Places opened in 2018, complete with a ceiling track hoist and a height-adjustable, adult-sized changing bench.
  • A quiet area, The Eco Hub, provides a time out space for customers and their carers
  • Space is given all year round to local community groups and charities to raise awareness of their causes
  • Shopmobility scheme is available and can be found in the Dolphin Shopping Centre multi storey car park. Call 01202 661 770 or visit pooleshopmobility.org.uk for more details
  • There is a total of 68 disabled parking spaces available to shoppers around the shopping centre.

Purple Tuesday is not limited to just the awareness day and in the next 12 months we will continue to understand ways in which to best care for our customers with disabilities and in need of additional support.
