The Dolphin Shopping Centre has been announced as a finalist in the 2019 International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Solal Marketing Awards.
The prestigious awards attract entries from around the globe, and the Dolphin Centre is Dorset’s first finalist. The shopping centre has been shortlisted for the 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Award. This award recognises innovation and achievement for projects which aim to benefit the shopping centre catchment area, be it the local or wider community.
The Dolphin Shopping Centre’s well-known Eco Hub, a free, creative space that celebrates sustainability in the shopping centre and the Poole community, is the focus of the award entry.
Commenting on the announcement, John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said:
“The whole Dolphin team are so proud to have reached the finals of the ICSC Awards, and to have our commitment to sustainability recognised globally. Whether we win or not, our determination to make the Dolphin Centre as sustainable as possible, and for as many local people as possible to benefit from the Eco Hub, won’t change.”
The Eco Hub, launched in 2018, is a free community space that customers and local organisations can use in a variety of ways. The Eco Hub has already made a significant contribution to the Dolphin Centre’s commitment to sustainability, including:
The Dolphin Shopping Centre is committed to sustainability, only purchasing green energy, avoiding sending any waste to landfill and recycling on average 75% waste with a goal of increasing that to 80%.
The ICSC Awards ceremony is being held in London 25th September.
The Eco Hub is located in the lower mall of the centre. It is open during the centre’s regular opening hours and is free to use. Email [email protected] with any booking enquiries.
