Want to learn more about Poole’s rich history? If so go and visit the Poole Museum’s four floors of galleries. Displays range from archaeology to art, from pirates to potteries.

You can experience magnificent views over Poole Harbour and Old Town. The original fabric of the 18th century harbour warehouse which houses the main displays has been carefully revealed providing the perfect backrdrop for the story of Poole and its people to be told.

The Museum and temporary exhibitions are free of charge, and fully accessible. The Route One bus stops outside the Museum.

 

Poole Old Town

Why not visit the Old Town?

Poole is a town rich in history. Part of the medieval town with and some buildings still survive within the Old Town.

For a more in-depth look at Poole’s fascinating historic Old Town, you could walk Poole’s Cockle Trail? Copies of the trail can be downloaded from www.pooletourism.co.uk or you can pick up a copy from Poole Welcome Centre on Poole Quay. The walk takes approx 1 1/2 hours.

The bustling Poole Quay is a great base to sit back in one of the many restaurants and bars and watch the visiting yachts in the marina and harbour beyond.

The Quay offers fabulous views across Poole Harbour – Europe’s largest natural harbour Just a short walk from Poole Quay is Poole Park, fun and excitement for all the family. Enjoy a ride on the Poole Park Train, visit Gus Gorillas indoor play area, or enjoy an afternoon at the new Ice Skating rink, Central Park . Have a go on the Crazy Golf Course or just take a leisurely walk and feed the wildfowl free to roam the park.

Poole has some of Britain’s best beaches: miles of golden sands, clean clear waters and contemporary waterside bars and restaurants.

Five gently sheltered beaches, – with soft golden sands, raked and cleaned all year round. Spot Olympic sailing, windsurfing and beach volleyball hopefuls and the glamour of sandpolo as Sandbanks hosts the British Beach Polo Championships for the third time in July 2011.

Fireworks Display

10th August 2011

5th November, Poole Quay.

November 5th brings a host of street entertainers plus live music to Poole Quay, leading up to a fantastic free fireworks display on the water at 8 pm. The whole length of the Quay is packed with entertainers keeping the crowds entertained.
